August Anthony Alsina, Jr. is an American recording artist from New Orleans signed to Def Jam Recordings. He is best known for his single "I Luv This Sh*t" with Trinidad James. His debut studio album Testimony was released on April 15, 2014. Although no one in his family was musically inclined, he was inspired to sing by Lauryn Hill in Sister Act 2. Alsina first uploaded videos to YouTube in 2007 at age 14, starting with a cover of "Hypothetically" by Lyfe Jennings.

Due to several unforeseen incidents, including the deaths of his father and older brother, Alsina was forced to become committed to his music in hopes of deterring himself from the harsh criminal plague often experienced in the inner cities of America. Alsina relocated to Atlanta and focused on creating mixtapes to build his buzz up. After successfully creating a hit single with Atlanta based Trinidad James titled "I Luv This Shit", Alsina followed up with another mixtape, as well as an EP. He was also named one of the 2014 XXL freshmen class. For more information, check out August Alsina's Website at: https://www.augustalsina.com and his twitter at: @AugustAlsina.
