New York, NY (Top40 Charts) Through raw, honest and sometimes humorous lyrics, indie-folk singer-songwriter
Diego Davidenko fashions earnest and heartfelt songs that weave through the gamut of human emotions and experiences: nostalgia, love, loneliness, attraction, remorse, frustration, and a yearning for human connection. With simple, yet unexpected melodies, Davidenko's songs invite audiences into the palpably intimate heart of an artist who writes and sings to make sense of and find his place in the world.
Davidenko grew up in Argentina and moved to the United States at the age of nine. The transition left him a longing for a feeling of home and belonging; a longing that found satisfaction only in music. Inspired early on by the simple, nostalgic tunes of The
Beatles and
Simon and Garfunkel and their ability to so accurately capture the emotions of a particular experience, he began exploring his own musical expression by studying jazz saxophone, which eventually led him to pick up the guitar and start writing his own songs. His love of creating music led him to pursue degrees in music composition from SUNY Fredonia and Syracuse University, where he honed his craft by exploring melody and expanding his harmonic language. Moved by the raw expression of grungier folk albums such as Beck's anti-folk One Foot in the Grave, Elliott Smith's Either/Or, and Bright Eyes' Letting Off the Happiness, Davidenko turned to songwriting to express himself in a genuine and unfiltered way, baring himself through his songs.
Davidenko's pursuit of a musical life has led him through some of the country's musical capitals: from New York to Atlanta to Austin, and finally to Los Angeles, where he now resides. He has played shows around the country to various settings and varied audiences, from large crows at festivals such as Austin's Art Outside, to intimate gatherings at smaller venues like The Viper Room in L.A. His talent has been showcased throughout Los Angeles' underground music scene with performances with Chocolate & Art and Subsurface LA.
Funded by a successful grassroots Kickstarter campaign, Davidenko recently traveled to Mexico City to record his first official full-length album, It Isn't Home at Cubetta Records. The album will be released in the summer of 2015. His 2014 EP, Where the Sky Is Infinite is available on iTunes.
