WCPE FM Cinema Classics Weekend
New York, NY (Top40 Charts) WCPE Music Director William Woltz announces a weekend-long extravaganza celebrating Great Classical Music in the cinema, March 18 through 20, 2016. Throughout this festival, WCPE will share music from films ranging from timeless to obscure. There's newer music, written especially for the movies, and old masterpieces that make the movie. On Saturday you may request your favorite cinema classic here.

"We will offer timeless masterpieces of Classical music that have become identified with feature films (think "The Blue Danube" from 2001: A Space Odyssey)," offers Woltz. "Plus there will be music written specifically for the silver screen."

For a stroll down memory lane, hear such notable classical works as:
18 Friday
7:00 p.m. Morricone: Selections from The Mission
8:00 p.m. Berlioz: Symphonie Fantastique
9:00 p.m. Stravinsky: Firebird Suite
19 Saturday
8:00 a.m. Lunn: Downton Abbey, the Suite
9:00 a.m. Bach: Italian Concerto in F
10:00 a.m. Rozsa: Choral Suite from Ben Hur
11:00 a.m. Bach: Toccata and Fugue in D Minor
12:00 p.m. Williams: Music from Jurassic Park
4:00 p.m. Gershwin: Rhapsody in Blue
5:00 p.m. Desplat: Selections from The King's Speech
20 Sunday
7:00 a.m. Albinoni: Adagio in G Minor
11:00 a.m. Music from The Fellowship of the Ring
12:00 p.m. Williams: Three Pieces from Schindler's List
1:00 p.m. Rodgers: Five Selections from Victory at Sea
2:00 p.m. Korngold: Suite from Captain Blood
3:00 p.m. Klimek: Cloud Atlas Sextet (for Orchestra)
4:00 p.m. Strauss II: "The Blue Danube"
"This is one of our most popular theme weekends, and one that will bring back more than a few memories," adds Woltz.
