 LOS ANGELES (MotownCity) - Smokey Robinson and Temptations and are among the acts that have agreed to perform at the upcoming City Of Hope Spirit Of Life Award dinner and ceremony, which this year salutes Vivendi Universal executive vice chairman Edgar Bronfman Jr. The event, which takes place October 11 on the Universal Studios backlot in California, will also feature songs from artists including country stars Vince Gill, Amy Grant, and Shelby Lynne; rockers Roger Daltrey (the Who), Bon Jovi's Jon Bon Jovi and Richie Sambora, Melissa Etheridge, and Jonny Lang; current R&B stars Mary J. Blige, Sisqo, India Arie, and Bilal; and Irish pop star Ronan Keating, with more names to be announced. Proceeds from the event will establish an honorary research fellowship in Mr. Bronfman's name at the City Of Hope National Medical Center and Beckman Research Institute. Music- and entertainment-industry participation has helped the City Of Hope National Medical Center and Beckman Research Institute, located just outside Los Angeles, raise more than $30 million to research and treat diseases including cancer, diabetes, and HIV/AIDS.
