NASHVILLE, TN. (Open Road Records/ www.roadhammers.com) - Open Road Recordings is pleased to welcome kick ass Country/Rock/Blues band The Road Hammers to the roster for the May 10 release of their debut self-titled album.

The Road Hammers are the brainchild of Open Road Recordings artist Jason McCoy. Jason, who grew up listening to the likes of Jerry Reed and Merle Haggard, had always dreamed of contributing to the wealth of popular songs devoted to the spirit and life of truckers. He found kindred spirits in Clayton Bellamy and Chris Bryne and The Road Hammers were born.

Recorded throughout 2004 in Calgary and Nashville, The Road Hammers is a charged mix of truckin' classics and new originals. Songs like "Girl On The Billboard," "East Bound and Down," and Little Feat's classic "Willin," find a new and vibrant life along side infectious fresh tunes like "Overdrive," "Keep On Truckin" and the anthemic first single "I'm A Road Hammer," which has been met with incredible enthusiasm at Country radio and was the No 1 Most added song at the format its first week of release.

Fans can have an inside look at life as a Road Hammer in the upcoming CMT Canada series "The Road Hammers." The six part series, debuting on CMT April 23, follows the band through their formation and the making of the album.
The Hammers will take their show to the road this summer with a number of festival stops. An album release show is in the works for Toronto.

Open Road Recordings, 2004 CCMA Independent Label of Year, is also home to CCMA Male Artist of the Year Jason McCoy, CCMA Group of the Year Doc Walker, Johnny Reid and The Wilkinsons. Open Road Recordings is part of the MapleCore Ltd. family, a company that works with Canadian artists and businesses to create new opportunities through the effective application of technology. Open Road Recordings, distributed by Universal Music Group, represents MapleCore's strong commitment to showcasing Canadian talent around the world.
