NEW YORK, NY (Virgin Records) - Scottish singing-songwriting sensation KT Tunstall makes good this week on the LA Times' prediction that she will "hit the U.S. with a bang." Her debut album 'Eye To The Telescope' (Relentless/Virgin) bows at No 47 on the Billboard Top 200 Album Chart, and No 4 on the album download charts at Billboard and Apple's iTunes Music Store. Released to rave reviews, and buoyed by Tunstall's knockout television performances on NBC's Today Show and Late Night with Conan O'Brien, 'Eye' sold over twenty-seven-thousand copies in its first week of release. In related news, KT's brilliant single "Black Horse and the Cherry Tree" - which the LA Times hailed as "resonant, with dreamlike, elemental imagery, and aggressive syncopation" - enjoyed four straight weeks atop the Triple A Radio Airplay Chart in Radio & Records magazine. 'Eye' has sold over one million copies in KT's native UK and is certified four times platinum there, making her the best selling female artist in the UK over the past year. Tonight KT will perform on the Brit Awards (the UK equivalent to the Grammys) where she is nominated in the following categories: British Female Solo Artist, British Breakthrough Artist, and British Live Act. KT's three nods are among the most for any artist, following only James Blunt (5 nominations) and Coldplay (4 nominations). Upcoming stateside highlights for KT include her biggest U.S. headlining show to date at NYC's Bowery Ballroom on March 2, and a performance at South by Southwest in Austin, TX on March 17.
