NEW YORK, NY. (By Tracy Zamot/ Virgin Records) - It's now unquestionably the album to watch: following a streak of high-profile television exposure of songs from "EYE TO THE TELESCOPE," singer/songwriter KT TUNSTALL's debut album on Virgin Records has been enjoying successive sales increases in the past month, with current weekly unit sales the highest ever, since the release of the album in February 2006. The album experienced a 78% increase in sales last week, and a further 9% gain this week. It was certified gold by the RIAA on April 28, just three months after release. Top 5 adult radio airplay of the album's debut single, "Black Horse and the Cherry Tree," has been supported by a series of high-impact television airings of songs from the album. Two weeks ago, a brief excerpt of "Black Horse" was performed to an "American Idol" audience of over 25 million viewers by contestant Katherine McPhee. Response was instantaneous, with a spike in Tunstall's online sales the morning following the show. The album has frequently turned up in the Top 3 of iTunes' daily chart of full-length album downloads since then. This week, another "Telescope" album track, "Universe and U," was featured on the season finale of the hit ABC hospital drama "Grey's Anatomy." "Black Horse and the Cherry Tree" will also be featured on Thursday night's end-of-series episode of the long-running NBC comedy "Will and Grace." Video play of "Black Horse" has spread from VH-1 and MTV to such country outlets as CMT and VH-1 Country. Tunstall has also made a series of major live television appearances this spring, including "Live with Regis and Kelly," "Last Call With Carson Daly," and "Late Show with David Letterman." She is scheduled to perform in the fall on PBS' revered live roots-music series, "Austin City Limits."
