NEW YORK (Virgin Records) - When Virgin Records singer/songwriter KT TUNSTALL criss-crosses the U.S. on a month-long headline tour starting (9/8), it will be in a bus that runs on environmentally-friendly biodiesel fuel.

Tunstall, whose EYE TO THE TELESCOPE album is certified gold in the US and triple-platinum in her native U.K., says that making the effort to use a bus modified for biodiesel was a gesture of respect to the environment, the country, and her American fans. "It seems unacceptable to tour using non-environmentally friendly fuel when there's an alternative available," Tunstall comments. "I'm very excited about venturing into a greener touring lifestyle, and I hope sooner rather than later, it becomes the norm for all little traveling circuses like us." She is traveling in a bus outfitted for B20 biofuel – a 20% blend – because a B100 bus (running on a pure biodiesel formula) could not be located on short notice, but she plans on using one on the next tour. Biodiesel is a renewable fuel made from vegetable oils or animal fats. It replaces fossil fuel in diesel engines, and results in reduced toxic gas and particulate emissions from vehicles that use it.

Tunstall's hit single "Black Horse and the Cherry Tree" has proven to be one of the year's most durable radio hits. It is still topping many local adult radio charts after holding the national No. 1 spot at the Hot AC format through July and August, and it is still top 20 in mainstream Top 40 airplay this week. The follow-up smash, "Suddenly I See," is now Top Ten in adult alternative airplay.

Tunstall's EYE TO THE TELESCOPE album was certified gold by the RIAA on April 28, three months after its February 2006 U.S. release on Virgin Records, and experienced its peak sales week so far in its sixth month of release, after songs from the album were featured on a series of high-rated television programs, including American Idol, Will and Grace, and Grey's Anatomy.

In May 2006, Tunstall partnered with Origins Natural Resources and Virgin Records for cross-promotion of her music and Origins' line of wellness-based skin care, bath and beauty products, through personal appearances, in-store music programming and charitable endeavors, including Project Sunshine, a non-profit organization that provides free programs and services to children and families affected by serious medical challenges.
