LOS ANGELES (Ramen Records) - Decaydance/ Fueled By Ramen recording group Cobra Starship - led by former Midtown frontman Gabe Saporta - made an incredible sales debut this week, with their much-anticipated first album, "WHILE THE CITY SLEEPS, WE RULE THE STREETS," entering in the No 1 spot on SoundScan's "Top New Artists" chart. What's more, the album - which includes the single, "Bring It (Snakes On A Plane)" - came in at No 1 on the "Alternative New Artist" chart, while also reaching No 7 on the "Independent Artist" ranking and No 36 on the "Current Alternative" chart.

In other news, MTV2 has set November 6th for the all-day "Unleashed" premiere of Cobra Starship's next video, "The Church of Hot Addiction." The clip will air hourly, with a Cobra Starship Makes A Video special debuting that same evening. "The Church of Hot Addiction" is the follow-up to Cobra Starship's breakthrough video for "Bring It (Snakes On A Plane)," which hit the No 1 spot on the airplay charts at both MTV2 and Fuse.

Cobra Starship - who recently wrapped up a national tour with labelmates Gym Class Heroes, followed by a much-buzzed-about performance at the Bamboozle Left festival - has just hit the road once more as part of MTV2's "Welcome to the Universe" Tour. The trek began October 17th at the Myth in Minneapolis, with dates continuing through a November 25th finale at the Wiltern LG in Los Angeles (see attached itinerary). In addition to Cobra Starship, the multi-band trek - part of the "MTV2 $2 Bill Presents" series - will feature performances from 30 Seconds To Mars and Head Automatica, with an array of exciting new rock outfits - including Rock Kills Kid, Pink Spiders, The Red Jumpsuit Apparatus, and Men, Women and Children - joining the bill on select dates.
