Nashville, TN. (Top40 Charts/ Universal Records South) - Universal Records South is taking a 'Joy Ride' with the signing of singer/songwriter, Jennifer Hanson. Her first single, titled 'Joy Ride', written by Hanson,
Victoria Shaw and Nick Brophy, will hit the airwaves this summer.
'Jennifer is a truly talented writer artist who, at this very time in her life, is reaching her full potential,' said Mark Wright, President, Universal Records South. 'When you hear the broad appeal and depth of her music you will agree that this is her time. We are very fortunate to be working with her as she reaches her musical stride.'
Though this will be Hanson's first new recording in about three years, she has more than adequately been represented on radio through her songwriting. The Wreckers had a multi-week No 1 hit with the Hanson-penned 'Leave the Pieces,' and Bucky Covington is currently enjoying success with the Hanson song 'A Different World.'
'Not only is Jennifer an incredibly talented artist and songwriter, but she's also a gifted producer with a real creative vision for her music,' said Fletcher Foster, Senior Vice President/General Manager Universal Records South. 'She is a great addition to the Universal Records South family.'
Hanson added, "I feel like I have found the perfect partnership with Universal Records South. Fletcher Foster and I worked together when I was with Capitol Records, and developed a very creative working relationship. I have known Mark Wright for many years and love what he brings to the table with his incredible song sensibility and producer ears. In fact, the entire Universal South team is a creative, hard-working bunch of people. I've spent the past year working on this album, putting my heart and soul into it, and I can't imagine turning it over to a better group of people."
Like her debut, self-titled release, Hanson was very involved with the creation of the new CD. She co-wrote all of the material, co-produced the record, and played many of the instruments, including, acoustic guitar, strings, mellotron, sitar and moog. The CD was recorded at Brophy's LA studio, The Laundry Room, with additional recording at Nashville's The Sound Kitchen, where Hanson recorded her first album.
