LONDON, UK (Sting Official Website) - The Police will likely reunite for only the second time in 16 years for a performance at the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame induction ceremony in March in New York according to Sting's official Web site.

The Police, who broke up in 1986 and haven't played a show together since an invitation-only gig at the wedding of singer-songwriter Sting and wife Trudie Styler in 1992, are aiming to play three songs at the ceremony. Additionally, the band has been invited to perform at a concert organized by South African President Nelson Mandela, although there was no confirmation on the band's participation at press time.

The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame induction ceremony is often a healer of strayed band relationships. Most recent, the Talking Heads put years of differences behind them to briefly reunite last March (allstar, March 19).

The 2003 Rock and Roll Hall of Fame induction ceremony will take place March 10 at the Waldorf-Astoria Hotel in New York. As previously reported, joining the Police as inductees include the Clash, AC/DC, Elvis Costello and the Attractions, and the Righteous Brothers.
