Nashville, TN. (Top40 Charts/ Broken Poet Productions) - Celebrating the ten-year anniversary of Broken Poet Productions, filmmaker Eric Welch marks a decade of directing award winning music videos and live concerts with the release of TobyMac's first concert film, Alive and Transported.
The project, released in stores May 27 in a DVD/CD package, documents TobyMac's Portable Sounds tour from 2007. Special, one night only screenings will show nationwide on June 9.
As director and editor of the live concert, Welch highlights the incredible energy of a TobyMac performance. "I have always been impressed by the power of Toby's show as well as the diversity of talent he brings to his music," states Welch. "I knew his performance would make an amazing visual experience."
Yet the release of Alive and Transported is more than just a remarkable project to release on his company's ten-year anniversary. Broken Poet Productions was actually formed while Welch was working on another project associated with TobyMac, dc Talk's live DVD Welcome To the Freakshow.
"Having such a long history with Eric and Broken Poet it was only fitting that we work together on Alive and Transported," says TobyMac. "Eric always brings a relentless passion for whatever project he is working on and it shows in the quality of his work."
Alive and Transported features current hits and timeless classics, presenting the GMA 2008 Artist of the Year and four-time Grammy winner in a format where the intensity of his music can truly come to life. With fifteen cameras and a sell out crowd, this film brings all the wonder of a TobyMac performance into a stunning High-Definition experience.
"Starting with the launch of Broken Poet ten years ago when we released dc Talk's Welcome to the Freak Show, Eric and Broken Poet have consistently delivered groundbreaking videos with the highest standard of excellence," states TobyMac's manager Dan Pitts. "Alive and Transported follows in that tradition, and we couldn't feel better about the way it turned out."
The theatrical release and companion DVD of Alive and Transported sets a milestone for Eric Welch and Broken Poet Productions. His music videos have garnered multiple nominations and awards, such as his recent ACM nomination for Rodney Atkins.
Welch continues to create compelling live concerts across multiple genres and formats, including projects for artists such as Ben Folds, Mercy Me, and Rhonda Vincent. He is currently finishing production on videos for GMA Female Vocalist of the Year Natalie Grant and emerging artist Room For Two.
