James Taylor Covers Generations

WEST CHESTER, PA. (Top40 Charts/ QVC) - He may be going to Carolina in his mind, but on Friday, September 12 at 5 PM (ET) and 9:30 PM (ET), prolific singer-songwriter James Taylor is headed to QVC to debut Covers, his much-anticipated new album featuring his renditions of songs that have influenced and inspired him from the past several decades.

Scheduled to appear on QVC Presents James Taylor QSessions Live, the five-time Grammy Award winner will perform a selection of songs from the CD while giving viewers an inside look at the making of his first cover album. Fans will also have the opportunity to purchase Covers with a specially packaged bonus-enhanced CD that features four additional cover songs from the recording session and a 10-minute, behind-the-scenes video of the making of the album, which was created especially for QVC, nearly two weeks before street date.

"It is an honor to have such a legendary artist as James Taylor appear on QVC Presents QSessions Live series," said Rich Yoegel, director of merchandising for QVC. "Our viewers will be excited to not only hear the new songs performed live, but also to purchase this specially packaged CD before it hits stores."

Covers comes less than a year since the triumphant release of One Man Band, Taylor's intimate live CD that critics hailed as the quintessential James Taylor live album. Covers was recorded last January when Taylor gathered his "Band of Legends" for a rare 10-day recording session in a converted barn on his property in western Massachusetts, the new release features covers of "Hound Dog," "Not Fade Away," and "Some Days You Gotta Dance" among others.

"Recording Covers was a departure from my typical studio experience. Working with such talented musicians in an almost frenetic, jam-band style truly made this album different from anything else that I'd ever done," said Taylor. "To be able to share this experience with QVC's millions of viewers makes everything even that much better."
