New York (Top40 Charts/ East Dearborn Downtown Development Authority) - The East Dearborn Downtown Development Authority (EDDDA) has partnered with Smooth Jazz V98.7 to present a free summer concert series on Wednesday evenings in July and August. The "Jazz on the Ave" outdoor concerts will be held at Dearborn City Hall Park at the corner of Michigan Avenue and Schaefer Road.

"This is a perfect opportunity for the public to stroll around our historic downtown, visit the Arab American National Museum, check out the many culturally rich businesses and ethnic restaurants, and then relax to some of the area's best jazz artists," said EDDDA Executive Director Michael Boettcher.

The concert series, featuring locally and nationally acclaimed jazz musicians, is also being co-sponsored by Oakwood Healthcare, the Dearborn Community Fund, Times-Herald and Press & Guide newspapers.

Scheduled to appear on Wednesday evenings from 7 to 9 p.m. are:

July 22 - Alexander Zonjic & Friends
July 29 - David Myles & the Mylestones
August 12 - Jesse Coleman
August 19 - Penny Wells
August 26 - The Brothers Groove

The public is encouraged to bring lawn chairs and blankets for comfortable seating. Along with regular dining services, many of the local restaurants offer carry-out for those who wish to enjoy a picnic on the lawn.

Along with "Jazz on the Ave" concerts, the EDDDA is also sponsoring a "Music Under the Stars" concert at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday, July 30 at City Hall Park. Featuring Nadeem Dlaikan and the Dearborn Traditional Ensemble, this concert is also free and open to the public. This event is part of City of Dearborn Recreation Department's annual summer concert series.

"On behalf of more than 180 local businesses, we look forward to welcoming everyone to east Dearborn's warm, inviting and uniquely global marketplace," added Boettcher.
