Los Angeles, CA (Top40 Charts/ Bethel Woods Center) - Bethel Woods Center for the Arts welcomes two acclaimed singer-songwriters to the intimate indoor Event Gallery, presenting An Evening with
Marc Cohn on Sunday, October 3rd and Rhett Miller (of the Old '97s) on October 9th.
As a songwriter and singer, Grammy Award winner Marc Cohn combines the precision of a brilliant tunesmith with the passion of a great soul man. He's a natural storyteller, balancing the exuberant with the poignant, and able to distill universal truth out of his often romantic, drawn-from-life tales. He similarly finds the emotional essence in the vintage songs he's just recorded, even as he brilliantly reshapes his source material. Cohn's own career took off in 1990, with the recording of his critically acclaimed, self-titled debut disc, which yielded such classics as 'Walking In Memphis,' and the lovely 'True Companion.' His new CD Join the Parade contains complex and private emotions set to music of remarkable depth and complexity.
Doors open at 6:00 p.m. for this 7:00 p.m. performance. Tickets are available now for $45.00 in advance at www.BethelWoodsCenter.org, the Bethel Woods Box Office, Ticketmaster, or by phone 1-800-745-3000, or $50.00 at the door. Parking is free.
Since the Old 97's roared out of Dallas more than fifteen years ago, they have blazed a trail through alt-country and power-pop, led by the piercingly observant lyrics of lead singer Rhett Miller. Miller has also forged an exciting solo career as a singer-songwriter with two albums focused on subjects such as fatherhood and love. In addition to his seven records with the Old 97's, he's released two critically-acclaimed solo albums, The Instigator (2002) and The Believer (2006). Rhett continues to balance his solo career with his band activities. The Old 97's have a new album, their eighth, out on October 12th The Great Grand Theatre Volume One.
