
Stowe, VT (Top40 Charts/ Stowe Mountain Resort) - Stowe Mountain Resort in Vermont announces the addition of a New Year's Eve benefit concert by the five-time Grammy Award winning singer/songwriter,
James Taylor. The event is part of the Grand Opening Celebration of the new Spruce Peak Performing Arts Center and will feature Taylor in an intimate one- hour concert of song with
Boston Symphony Orchestra cellist, Owen Young and vocalist, Caroline Taylor. Proceeds will benefit the new Spruce Peak Arts Center Foundation, Inc. and its education programs. The Foundation is a 501(c)(3) not for profit public organization funded in part by individual contributors.
The 420-seat multipurpose theatre, situated at the base of Stowe Mountain Resort, is committed to presenting live and multimedia performances including theater, music, dance, variety, film, and much more. The Center also includes active partnerships and collaborations to engage, educate and entertain resort guests, residents, and Stowe and surrounding communities in the area. James Taylor has earned 40 gold, platinum and multi-platinum awards for a music catalog running from 1970's Sweet Baby James to his Grammy Award-winning efforts Hourglass (1997) and October Road (2002). Taylor's first Greatest Hits album earned him the RIAA's elite Diamond Award, given for sales in excess of 10 million units in the United States. For his accomplishments, James was honored with the 1998 Century Award, Billboard magazine's highest accolade, bestowed for distinguished creative achievement. The year 2000 saw his induction into both the Rock 'n' Roll Hall of Fame and the prestigious Songwriter's Hall of Fame. In February 2006, The National Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences selected James as its MUSICARES Person of the Year. In September 2008 James Taylor's One Man Band (2007) was nominated for an Emmy Award for Outstanding Variety, Music or Comedy Special. The last two years have seen the release of two remarkable albums including Covers (2008); which was nominated for two Grammy Awards and Live at The Troubadour CD/DVD (2010) which was followed by the 2010 Troubadour Reunion world tour. Mr. Taylor makes his home in the Berkshires with his wife, Caroline and sons, Rufus and Henry.
