Songwriters Showcase During SXSW, By USA Songwriting Competition
New York, NY (Top40 Charts/ USA Songwriting Competition) USA Songwriting Competition presenting a songwriters showcase during Austin's SXSW Music and Media Conference, long recognized as the largest musician conference and festival. USA Songwriting Competition is bringing six outstanding songwriters/music artists:

Dave Merenda (Honorable Mention Winner, 15th USA Songwriting Competition)
Simon Spire (Honorable Mention Winner, 12th USA Songwriting Competition)
Melissa Greener (1st Prize, Folk category,, 14th Annual USA Songwriting Competition)
Raleigh Hall (1st Prize, Gospel category, 15th USA Songwriting Competition)
Drew Jacobs (1st Prize, Novelty/Comedy category,, 15th USA Songwriting Competition)

USA Songwriting Competition showcase moved from Borders Books & Music to Barnes and Noble store on Fridday evening starting at 7pm. SXSW celebrates its 25th anniversary this year, hosting no less than 1,900 bands during its Music week, March 16-20, 2011.

Past artists include winners and finalists of the USA Songwriting Competition that went on to get signed and hit the charts after the showcase. Kate Voegele was featured at the same showcase in 2006 and was signed shortly thereafter to Interscope Records. Ari Gold performed at the 2008 showcase and hit No 10 on the Billboard charts later that summer. Other artists include Jordan Zevon (USA Songwriting Competition Overall Grand Prize Winner), Melissa Ferrick, Michelle Malone, Throwing Seven and more.

USA Songwriting Competition's Tenth Annual Songwriters Showcase during SXSW is on Friday, March 18, 2011, from 7.00pm to 10.00pm. at Barnes & Noble Austin is located at 10000 Research Blvd No 158, Austin, TX 78759-5815 at the upstairs event space. Telephone is (512) 418-8985.

The 16th Annual USA Songwriting Competition is currently accepting entries. Entrants can win a top prize of $50,000 worth of cash and merchandise such as cool gear from Sony, D'Addario Strings, Audio-Technica and more. Also, winning songs will be played on radio. Entrants may enter in 15 different categories such as: Pop, Rock/Alt, Folk, R&B, Hip-Hop, Jazz, Instrumental, etc. USA Songwriting Competition has a long history of having winners getting success, recording and publishing contracts, have their songs placed on the charts as well as having their songs placed on film and television. 2010 winner Christopher Tin won 2 Grammy awards with the same song he submitted at the USA Songwriting Competition. 2009 First Prize winner Klyer England (country) was signed to Universal Records. 2005 First Prize winner (Pop) Kate Voegele was signed to Interscope Records the year after she won and had her winning song hit top 40 on the Billboard Charts, her latest album hit Top 10 on the Billboard 200 Album charts this summer. 2007 Overall Grand Prize Winner Ari Gold had his winning song "Where The Music Takes You" hit No 10 on the Billboard Dance Charts. Judges include A&R managers from the "big 4" record companies: Universal, Warner, EMI and SONY Music.
