NEW YORK (Capitol Records) - Capitol Records has set the upcoming release of "TEN YEARS GONE - THE BEST OF EVERCLEAR 1994-2004," the eagerly awaited greatest hits collection from celebrated modern rock outfit, Everclear.
The 21-track retrospective - which includes all the band's classic hits, plus soundtrack contributions and two previously unreleased songs - is due to arrive in stores on September 28th.

Driven by the powerful songwriting of singer/guitarist Art Alexakis, who Rolling Stone labeled a "master" songwriter, Everclear has been among the most popular and critically acclaimed rock bands of the past decade, earning Grammy Award nominations, two wins and worldwide sales over 10 million.

Fuelled by the smash single, "Santa Monica," the Portland, Oregon-based trio's 1995 Capitol Records debut, "SPARKLE AND FADE," achieved platinum certification by the RIAA for sales exceeding one million. The 1997 follow-up, "SO MUCH FOR THE AFTERGLOW," was a modern rock sensation, spawning two major hits - the No 1 radio track, "I Will Buy You A New Life," and "Father Of Mine" - on its way to achieving double platinum status. In 2000, Everclear released the pop-inflected platinum-certified "SONGS FROM AN AMERICAN MOVIE, VOLUME 1: LEARNING HOW TO SMILE," followed later that year by a harder-edged companion volume, "SONGS FROM AN AMERICAN MOVIE, VOLUME 2: GOOD TIME FOR A BAD ATTITUDE."
The band's most recent release - last year's "SLOW MOTION DAYDREAM" - was acclaimed at the band's most diverse, ambitious work thus far. Ten Years Gone serves to highlight Alexakis' songwriting, which reflects many of the personal challenges he has experienced in his life of which he has successfully overcome. The raw honesty of Alexakis' songs serve to differentiate Everclear from many of its contemporaries and has been a major factor in allowing Everclear to have an enduring career.

Alexakis is currently serving as an elected delegate representing Oregon's 3rd congressional district (Portland) at the Democratic National Convention in Boston. He recently recorded a version of Woody Guthrie's "This Land Is Your Land," which is available for download at Rock the Vote's website, www.rockthevote.org.
Alexakis also hosts KNRK's "Blackjack Radio" radio show, an eclectic two-hour mix of music and political discussion, broadcast Sunday nights in Portland. While a new Everclear album is currently in the works for release next year, Everclear will be touring this Fall.
