Jo Henley, A Boston-Based Roots-Rock Band, Releases Their Fifth Album, Entitled "The Fall Comes Early"
Boston, MA (Top40 Charts/ Powderfinger Promotions) Jo Henley, a Boston-based roots-rock band, releases their fifth album, entitled "The Fall Comes Early." The band, formed in 2006 by longtime collaborators Andy Campolieto and Ben Lee, is known for its exciting blend of rock, folk, country, bluegrass, and jamband improvisation. Inspired by everything from Hank Williams to The Rolling Stones to Phish, Campolieto and Lee, together with drummer and keyboardist Mike Dingley combine traditional roots music with indie rock sensibility to create a fresh sound all their own. Jo Henley has been enjoying success since their first full length album, Sad Songs & Alcohol (2008), which spent 6 months on the national Americana charts' (AMA) Top 100. The following year, Jo Henley teamed with producer Rob Loyot (Girls, Guns & Glory, Sarah Blacker) and three veteran members of the Trey Anastasio Band, including drummer Russ Lawton, keyboardist Ray Paczkowski, and bassist Tony Markellis for their next album, Inside Out. In 2011 the band signed to Plimro Records and worked with producer Mark Bryant (Jake Hill, 3rd Left) to record Mohawk.

2012 became the catalyst for a dynamic period of creativity for Jo Henley. In January, Ben and Andy headed north to a secluded cabin in Vermont's Northeast Kingdom to set the framework for a new album. More new songs quickly followed. The songs tell stories of characters who don't always have the easiest lives or make the best choices, but who mean well and dream big. The underlying emotion left with the listener is a feeling of hope. "The Fall Comes Early" moves between alt-country rockers ("It Can't Rain All the Time") to rootsy ballads ("Never Can See the Sun") to old-school country ("You and Me") and bluegrass ("I'm Gonna Find It"), tackling the process of grieving, the concept of time, and the power of relationships.

For "The Fall Comes Early," Andy, Ben, and Mike turned once more to two old friends in bassist Tony Markellis and producer Tim Lynch. The album was cut at The Recording Company in rural Upstate New York. "The Fall Comes Early" ranks as the band's most ambitious, soulful, and effective work to date.
